MBABANE:Government will pay about R50million per-year as salaries for the new soldiers who will soon commence training at the Mbuluzi Army Barracks after the ongoing recruitment.
The recruitment was announced by King Mswati through Army Commander Moses Mashikilisane Fakudze and the process has already begun.
It has been disclosed that, about three hundred(300) aspiring soldiers will be recruited, each soldier will then earn around thirteen thousand Rands(R13,000.00) as a salary and this means Government will spend about R4million per-month and R50million per-year as salaries for the new soldiers.
Worth-noting, the amount to be paid to the new soldiers might be higher as Government will soon implement a salary review after concluding the consultation process.
On another another, eSwatini is facing an education crisis amid shortage of teachers and working equipment in schools and as a result, the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) organized a march to the Shiselweni Regional Education Office(REO) on Friday morning, demanding the employment of teachers and working equipment.
Responding to this Swaziland News on Saturday morning, SNAT Secretary General Lot Vilakati welcomed the Army recruitment but appealed to Government to employ teachers permanently.
“As SNAT we welcome the Army recruitment because we want all emaSwati to have jobs as this will ease the burden from us who are employed. You will understand that having more unemployed citizens creates a huge expectation for us to take care of our unemployed family members. But in as much as we applaud the Army recruitment, we appeal to Government to employ teachers permanently, these soldiers won’t be temporary Government employees so why do you employ teachers on contracts?”, said the SNAT Secretary General.
