MBABANE:King Mswati’s “tetfulo” cattle for Incwala ritual ceremony allegedly violated the foot and mouth travel restrictions.
Responding to this Swaziland News on Sunday evening when asked to clarify how the cattle reached the Engabezweni Palace amid “foot and mouth” travel restrictions, King Mswati’s Spokesperson Percy Simelane said, even though he wouldn’t be sure where the cattle travelled from, “there are checks and balances” in this regard, conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture-Veterinary Office.
“We would not be sure where exactly they travelled from but alive to the fact that there are checks and balances provided by the the Veterinary Office of the Ministry of Agriculture. Our experience is that thorough checking is done in situations like this and only those which pass the test can reach their intended destination,” said the King’s Spokesperson.
King Mswati received “tetfulo” worth over R17million including cattle from corporate companies and individuals, the gifts were presented to the King in support of the ongoing Incwala ceremony.
