MBABANE:Mlungisi Makhanya, the President of Eswatini’s main liberation movement, the People’s United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO) has, on behalf of the political organization released a statement, condemning the recent announcement by the United States approving arms sales to China’s Taiwan Province valued at up to US$11.1 billion being the largest military package in history. 

“This reckless and provocative act constitutes a direct violation of international law, a grave affront to China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a dangerous escalation that undermines regional and global peace. The Taiwan question lies at the very core of China’s core interests. It is the first and most fundamental red line that must not be crossed in China-U.S. relations, nor in the conduct of any state that claims to respect the principles of the United Nations Charter. Taiwan is an inalienable part of the People’s Republic of China. Any attempt to internationalize, militarize, or instrumentalize the Taiwan question is a deliberate effort to destabilize China and obstruct its peaceful development,” reads the statement in part, released on Tuesday.

On another note, PUDEMO expressed unwavering solidarity with the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Government and people of the People’s Republic of China in the face of this gross provocation. 

“Our solidarity is rooted not only in historical friendship, but in shared commitments to multilateralism, sovereignty, non-interference, and the construction of a multipolar world order free from imperial domination and unilateral coercion. The United States’ actions expose a deep and dangerous hypocrisy,” the PUDEMO President said through the press statement.
