MBABANE:Maxwell Dlamini, the Deputy Secretary General of the People’s United Democratic Movement (PSPF) has, on behalf of the political organization, expressed full support for the proposed Eswatini National Provident Fund (ENPF) conversion into a National Pension Fund.
But PUDEMO warned that, the process must not collapse the already existing Public Service Pension Fund (PSPF) and jeopardize civil servants retirement security.
“PUDEMO has noted government proposals to convert the Swaziland National Provident Fund (ENPF) into a national pension fund. We support reforms that modernize social security and extend coverage to informal and private-sector workers. However, we strongly oppose any conversion that weakens the Public Service Pension Fund (PSPF) or jeopardizes civil servants’ retirement security. Any reform must be preceded by full consultation with workers and must protect accrued benefits,” the PUDEMO Deputy Secretary General said when delivering the End of Year Statement.
