Finance Minister Neal Rijikernberg accuses some retail companies of defrauding Eswatini Revenue Service, says collection of Value Added Tax (VAT) declining.

MBABANE:Neal Rijikernberg, the Minister of Finance, has accused some companies within retail industry of fraud that resulted to the ongoing decline in the collection of Value Added Tax (VAT) in the retail industry.

Speaking on his Finance-in Focus online program this week, the Finance Minister applauded the Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS) for the “continued improvement in the collection of taxes while highlighting the areas that need urgent attention in the retail sector”.

The Minister said the VAT collected from various shops in the country is declining but disclosed that, ERS will ascertain the cause and address the matter.
