MBABANE:A high profile businessman owning a giant company in Eswatini has, through his Spokesperson confirmed paying the R1million Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC) bill on behalf of the Luke Commission.

This comes after this Swaziland News published a document and a story earlier on Friday, exposing how hundreds of lives were in danger after the Electricity Company communicated an intention to disconnect The Luke Commission electricity supply this week.

The company’s Spokesperson told this publication that, the Director resolved to remain anonymous but confirmed paying the R1million as a donation later on Friday afternoon.

“In averting what could have been a dire situation faced by Emaswati currently admitted at the Luke Commision for various reason. I good Samaritan in the corporate sector has settled the bill,” the businessman said in a message sent to Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini through the company’s Spokesperson.

But the temporary relief for The Luke Commission comes after this publication exposed how Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini blocked R50million subvention approved through an Act of Parliament, to assist the Hospital.

As a result, hundreds of lives were in danger as the Electricity Company was about to disconnect the electricity.

On another note, Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini urged the PM to release the R50million due to the Luke Commission not to gamble with the lives of emaSwati.

“The R50million subvention is now an Act of Parliament or law of the land and therefore, the Prime Minister must respect the law. We can’t have a PM who is breaking the law because by so doing, he is setting a precedent of impunity and undermining Parliament,” said the editor.
