MBABANE:Jeremy Liang, the Taiwan Ambassador to the Kingdom of Eswatini allegedly abused his powers as a diplomat and sabotaged an assault case after being involved in a fight with a Mozambican based Chinese businessman identified as a Director of Dugongo cement and, linked to the West China Cement Limited (WCC).

The West China Cement Limited is a major Chinese cement producer listed in Hong Kong and, known for it’s leading position in North-western China with growing international operations in Ethiopia, Mozambique, Democratic Republic of Congo and Central Asia.

It is focusing on large-scale cement/clinker production, aggregates, concrete, and green manufacturing for high-quality development thus streching it’s trade and investment muscles to various  countries including Eswatini.

Leaked intelligence information suggests that, on or around 2024, the Chinese businessman was assaulted by Ambassador Liang and CECI Consulting Engineering Manager Roger Tsai at the MTN Eswatini Golf Club Ezulwini, the Chinese businessman subsequently produced a gun against the Taiwan Ambassador and Tsai who were also at the MTN Park to play Golf but later provoked the Mozambican based Chinese businessman.

It is alleged that, the bone of contention was a distribution tender of the Dugongo cement to Eswatini, Ambassador Jeremy Liang has been allegedly sabotaging Chinese businesses in the country, he allegedly unleashed police officers to harass Chinese construction workers at Mpakeni Dam.

But Ambassador Liang and his alleged business partner Roger Tsai operate various businesses in Eswatini focusing on engineering, construction and insurance among others disregarding the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act despite a clear conflict of interest.

CECI Consulting Engineering was previously operating at the Nokwane based Royal Science and Technology Park (RSTP) and benefited millions of public funds and as a result, it is alleged that, one of the companies allegedly linked to the Taiwan Ambassador was vying for the tender to supply cement in the country as more construction and other projects emerge.

Reached for comments by this Swaziland News, the Taiwan Ambassador declined to comment about the matter, he maintained his ealier comment that, this journalist must speak to the Government on issues involving Taiwan and Eswatini.

“Speak to the Government”, said the Taiwan Ambassador.

But another Chinese businessman identified as Jiang and operating a business in the capital city-Mbabane,

believed to be aware of the fight that erupted at the MTN Golf Park told this publication that, “he is not ready to speak” about the fight describing the issue as sensitive.

“I am not ready to speak about sensitive issues, who told you?”, said the businessman.

It has been disclosed that, some of the companies operated by Ambassador Liang and Roger Tsai, normally receive tenders allegedly linked to the Taiwan funded projects in the country.

Reached for comments by this Swaziland News, Wandile Dludlu, the Deputy President of the People’s United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO) warned the Taiwan Ambassador not to monopolize Eswatini and harass other hbusinesspeople from the Mainland China.

“We are not surprised because it is becoming a norm for the Ambassador to harass Mainland China investors in many ways. Taiwan must stop monopolizing Eswatini and involve our country in their differences with the Mainland China,” said the PUDEMO Deputy President.
