MBABANE: “This one hates us no rice for him”, is the current perception for Lobamba Lomdzala Member of Parliament (MP) Marwick Khumalo as per an intelligence report within the Taiwan Embassy.
Members of Parliament (MPs) who appear as “friends of Taiwan” include Phila Buthelezi, Welcome Dlamini, Mabulala Maseko and Dr. Thambo Gina among others, the rice is used by Taiwan to interfere in Eswatini’s domestic affairs by influencing Tinkhundla elections.
Jeremy Liang, the Taiwan Ambassador declined to comment urging this journalist to contact the Government.
“Speak to the Government,” he said.
Acting Government Spokesperson Thabile Mdluli had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
It remains unclear why Lobamba Lomdzala MP has been marked “this one hates Taiwan”, however but once registered a motion calling for the establishment of a Chinese Trade Mission in Eswatini.
Taiwan frowns upon all MPs, Ministers and other emaSwati objectively calling for the establishment of formal economic or diplomatic relations with China.
The bone of contention is China’s consistent threat to take over self-ruled Island, considered as part of China in terms of the United Nations (UN) Security Council Resolution 2758 of 1971.
