OPINION: National development policies must be based on genuine economic research and align with the international development agenda not mere King Mswati’s ‘Agape love’ hogwash.

In this country, we are noting some of the absolute ‘hogwash’ coming from King Mswati’s mouth being incorporated into National development policies in what appears to me as a political strategy, seeking to brainwash emaSwati into believing that, one day their lives would be better amid high levels of poverty marred by the King’s and his loyalists extravagant spending.

But even before the appointment of Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini, Mswati had long adopted a strategy of mixing culture or religion with politics and at times, his mere Sibaya Speech would be twisted and incorporated into a political narrative or policy seeking to drive the National development agenda.

Indeed, some of the hogwash that previously came from the King’s mouth include “Nkwe, hallelujah, first world and lona ngumnyaka we-turn around Eswatini” among others, all these nonsense went on to influence Government policies because in this country, hogwash is regarded as wisdom if it comes from the Head of State.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank among other reputable international financial and economic development institutions have been releasing reports outlining the country’s economic outlook.

But instead of engaging experts to analyze those reports and come-up with a National development slogan or agenda, a whole Government and the country is relying on one man’s staged preachings at Lozitha Palace-Mandvulo Hall, this country will never develop with this stupid political mentality.

An economic outlook report as the forecast of the future state of an economy, summarizes expert projections on key indicators like Growth Domestic Product (GDP) growth, inflation, employment, and interest rates.

It provides a snapshot of anticipated, short-to-medium-term trends, helping policymakers and investors identify potential risks, such as trade tensions or recessions, where does Mswati’s staged preaching feature in economic development?.

Shortly after the appointment of Russell Mmiso Dlamini as the Prime Minister at Ludzidzini Palace, this country was littered with ‘Nkwe’ just because Mswati uttered those words, three (3) years later if you can ask Cabinet Ministers under Russell Dlamini’s administration what did this country achieved under “Nkwe” except to steal public funds, they won’t be able to respond.

This country is economically hopeless with no clear development policies and every year, Mswati’s preaching is contextually incorporated into a “National development slogan”, even if it’s nonsense, the entire country must hopefully sing that nonsense amid high levels of poverty and this, is meant to give emaSwati false hopes that one day, they will enjoy a better life.

The recently adopted “Agape love” is strategically erasing the ‘Nkwe’ and equally so, the ‘Nkwe’ was announced after another previous hogwash known as “lona ngumnyaka we-turn around Eswatini”, I may not remember some of the nonsense adopted before “umnyaka we-turn around” because I have duty to protect my mind from consuming hogwash.

But let me warn emaSwati about these stupid slogans, there’s absolutely nothing that will ever come out of these ‘Nkwe’, ‘Agape love’, and hallelujah’ among others, Mswati went as far as blasphemously mocking God by directing that, all State institutions must have ‘hallelujah’ on the walls, religion is being used to brainwash emaSwati.
