MBABANE: Incarcerated pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube have appointed Ben J Simelane as their new lawyer in the high profile politically motivated terrorism case.

This was confirmed by Sicelo Mngomezulu, the South African Correspondent Attorney for the MPs when speaking to this Swaziland News on Wednesday afternoon.

“We have appointed appointed Ben J Simelane Attorneys to take over the terrorism case”, said the South African Correspondent Attorney in a message sent to this journalist.

Mngomezulu said the MPs decided to withdraw from lawyer Thulani Maseko to avoid a possible conflict of interest in their political careers as Maseko remains the Chairperson of the Multi-stakeholder forum.

Human Rights Lawyer Thulani Maseko referred comments to Bheki Mabuza, the brother to MP Bacede Mabuza.

“I suggest that you contact Bheki first and then you come back to me for a comment”, he said.

When reached for comments, Bheki Mabuza said he was in a meeting and would contact this publication later.

“I will call you Nkhosi,I'm  still in a meeting”, read a message sent by the MP’s brother.

Subsequent efforts to contact lawyer Thulani Maseko proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.

Reached for comments, lawyer Ben J Simelane confirmed that he was contacted by the South African Correspondent Attorney seeking legal representation services for the incarcerated MPs.

Pro-democracy MPs Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube were thrown behind bars allegedly by King Mswati for demanding democratic reforms on behalf  of the people who elected them, they were charged with terrorism and murder among other charges.
