Thursday, 26th March, 2020

Zimbambwean health practitionershave downed thier tools due to the lack of protective clothing against the novel coronavirus.

This was evealed by Dr Emmanuel Masosota the Secretary General for the Zimbambwe Hospital Doctors Association in an interview with the SABC NEWS on Wednesday evening.

\" We are demanding protective clothing from the government and running water. Running water in Zimbabwe is a Nation wide problem, we need clean water to win this  fight against the virus\", he said.

When he was reminded that President Emmerson Mnangagwa did concede earlier on that doctors have been doing a great job in delivering their services at greater risk. The President has also ordered the release of additional funding for the procurement of protective clothing for health workers.

He maintained their stance that they will continue with the strike until they are provided with same. \" We don\'t know much about procurement, we only get to know about these things when they arrive, we will continue with the strike until our demands are met\"he said.

Currently Zimbabwe has 3 confirmed cases of the coronavirus and one death. Zimbabwe\'s health sector has been neglected for a long time and it risks of becoming a new epicenter of the virus after Italy and China .
