Education Ministry Under Secretary Union refers SNAT President’s matter to Teaching Service Commission(TSC).

Monday, 29th August, 2022

MBABANE: Lungelo Nhlengetfwa, the Under Secretary (US)  in the Ministry of Education and Training has referred the alleged misconduct matter of SNAT President Mbongwa Dlamini to his employer, the Teaching Service Commission(TSC).

This is contained in a letter dated 23rd August 2022 that was served to the President of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) on Monday.

The SNAT President stands accused  of misconduct, in that he allegedly communicated a resolution of the union, advising all teachers not to report to work as per a command issued by the Commander of the Swaziland International Solidarity Forces(SISF).

“Reference is made to a letter from my office on the above-captioned subject, dated 10th August 2022, which had not been replied to by yourself to date. You were expected to respond on or before 15 August 2022. However, you have neglected, refused, and or failed to respond to the said letter. Following your failure to respond as requested, my office, in regulation 15(3) of the Teaching Service Regulations of 1983, has decided to forward your matter to your employer, the Teaching Service Commission for its consideration,” reads the letter signed by the Under Secretary.

Efforts to reach the Under Secretary for a comment proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.

Reached for comments, SNAT President Mbongwa Dlamini confirmed receiving the letter on Monday.

“I have received the letter and to my surprise, I am accused of not responding to a letter from the Under Secretary. The truth is, I submitted my responses and this did not happen privately, I was accompanied by protestors and the SNAT Executive to the Ministry of Education,” said the SNAT President.
