Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) Themba Masuku encourages persons with disabilities to participate in upcoming Tinkhundla undemocratic elections.

MBABANE: Senator Themba Masuku,the Deputy Prime Minister has encouraged persons with disabilities to participate in the upcoming Tinkhundla undemocratic elections. 

According to Government online platforms, the DPM was speaking during a stakeholder consultative meeting aimed at ensuring the increased participation of persons with disabilities in the 2023 elections and beyond in the Kingdom of Eswatini.   

 “The right to vote is critical for persons with disabilities on an equal basis with others without any discrimination, as outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), which the country signed in 2007 and ratified in 2012. The afore-mentioned convention underscores the equal rights of persons with disabilities to participate in political life.The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is therefore the guiding international standard blueprint document in disability inclusion and mainstreaming,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
