MBABANE:Mbonisi Bhembe, the Spokesperson of the Elections and Boundaries Commission(EBC) says, the Commission is operating independently and/or without the influence of the institution of the Monarchy.
Responding to a questionnaire from this Swaziland News on Thursday, after being asked if aspiring pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) risked being disqualified for criticizing King Mswati or royalty, the EBC Spokesperson said, candidates are nominated and voted for, by the electorate adding that disqualifying factors “are stipulated” by the legislation.
“EBC is a professional independent elections body which facilitate the conduct of elections.Candidates are nominated and voted for by the electorate.Disqualifying factors are stipulated by legislation,” said the Spokesperson of the Elections Commission.
