GILGAL:Lucky Malaza, a member of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) has defied his political organization’s long-standing position to boycott Tinkhundla undemocratic elections, Malaza is contesting to become a Member of Parliament(MP) at Gilgal Inkhundla.
Reached for comments, Penuel Malinga, the PUDEMO Secretary General(SG) said, Malaza’s issue will be discussed at Regional and Branch level not by the National Executive Commitee(NEC).
“Such issues involving members are normally handled by the Regional and Branch Committees not by the NEC. In this particular case, if a member has violated rules of the organization, the Branch or Region, following all the necessary organization procedures,has the power to discipline that member”, said the PUDEMO Secretary General(SG).
A questionnaire was sent to Mbonisi Bhembe, the Spokesperson of the Elections Commission, however, he had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
Responding to this Swaziland News, Lucky Malaza, the Gilgal aspiring MP confirmed that he was nominated and that “he is contesting” in the Tinkhundla elections.
“I am aware that I have to respect my organization and boycott but, considering the challenges we are facing at community level, kungaye kube khona lokubona nje kutsi kukhona longingakulungisa uma ngingangena(meaning: there are challenges that could be resolved if I can participate in the elections”, said the PUDEMO.
