King Mswati has once again demonstrated arrogance on a very sensitive political issue that is threatening peace, stability and sustainable development in this country, he told the Southern African Development Community(SADC) that he can’t dialogue with terrorists.
It should be noted that, the propagated statements labeling those calling for democracy ‘terrorists’ has been used by African dictators before but normally, these are the last sentiments from a dictator of a falling regime.
Indeed, the King is behaving exactly like other dictators who demonstrated arrogance but eventually, those dictators were removed from power, there’s nothing special or new about Mswati’s arrogant statements.
Subsequent to the King’s “I can’t dialogue with terrorists”statement, it can no longer be an assumption or secret that Mswati is refusing to engage those calling for democracy through an all inclusive dialogue.
This confirms his defiance to politically engage peacefully and through the statement filed on SADC archives, perhaps, the institution of the Monarchy or eSwatini government will need a ‘magical’ propaganda machinery to twist the King’s sentiments.
Dialogue is a globally recognized peaceful mechanism to resolve political conflicts, any Head of State who disregard dialogue principles or refuse to engage peacefully on political issues “is an instigator of violence” and an enemy of global peace and stability.
As previously mentioned, King Mswati is a serious problem in this country that needs to be removed, this week he showed a ‘middle finger’ to SADC, an organization whose fundamental objectives, among others, is to promote peace and stability within the region.
It is now clear that, it was Mswati who refused to engage those calling for democracy, he first claimed he will participate in a dialogue once peace has been restored.
Now that he has personally confirmed that, peace has been restored, the King has informed SADC that he can’t dialogue with terrorists.
But then, time will tell, we are waiting to see how long will the King sustain oppression and/or through the barrel of a gun.
Even those holding the guns are being starved day-by day through low salaries, young people and/or University students, are graduating with no sustainable jobs.
The United States(US), the European Union(EU) and other international organizations pushing for the targeted sanctions against eSwatini violators of human rights, must read King Mswati’s SADC statement.
But the recent statement is a true reflection of Mswati’s position and arrogance with regards to the political situation in this country, the King believes he will kill and arrest anyone calling for democracy, soon thereafter, he will run to SADC and the international community claiming peace has been restored.
