MBABANE: The United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) in collaboration with Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) Themba Masuku’s Office conducted a training for women this week in the midst of the Tinkhundla elections.
According to UNDP online platforms, the training seeks to capacitate and encourage women to support and vote for other women during the ongoing elections.
“UNDP supported the training of women to participate in the upcoming national elections as candidates and voters to enhance gender equality in Eswatini\'s governance processes”, reads the online report.
The Deputy Prime Minister\'s Office facilitated the training of women from rural communities.
\"There is a need for women to support fellow women and men who share the same agenda of women empowerment and support policies that the government has put in place to increase the participation and decision-making process,\" said UNDP Deputy Resident Representative David Omozuafoh as quoted in the online report.
On another note Lutsango leader Dumsile Sigwane said, in most instances, men constitute the largest number of participants in governance.
“However, for this country to be successful, there is a need for balancing the gender for the diversify of views in government because both men and women have excellent ideas,\" said Dumisile Sigwane, the leader of Lutsango Regiment.
