DUBAI:Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini has urged the United Nations(UN) to allow the Republic of China on Taiwan to be part of future Climate Change Conferences, Government online platforms reported on Friday.

Addressing world leaders last week in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates(UAE), the eSwatini PM said,Taiwan voluntarily committed to play a role in fighting climate change without being part of the discussion.

Taiwan is not recognized as a country by the United Nations(UN) and incorporated as part of the People’s Republic of China(PRC) in terms of Resolution 2758 of 1971.

All countries should be part of the agreements and commitments on climate action as we are a global community and are commonly bound. If countries like Taiwan have voluntarily committed for the sake of the planet and people without being a party to the negotiations, then the rest of us can, and must do more. We call for Taiwan to be allowed to formally join in future UNFCCC discussions,” said the Prime Minister.
