MBABANE:Lawyer Sicelo Mngomezulu, the Chairperson of the pro-democracy MultiStakeholder Forum(MSF) says,the Eswatini Government must allow an international investigation into the killing of human rights lawyer Thulani Rudolf Maseko.
A questionnaire was sent to Alpheous Nxumalo,the Government Spokesperson,however,he had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
Speaking to the Voice of America(VOA) this week,the MSF Chairman maintained that,the Eswatini Government “is the prime suspect” in the killing of the human rights lawyer” and therefore,cannot investigate itself.
“We will not allow a situation whereby the killing of Maseko will be just another killing and life goes on”, said the MSF Chairperson.
Thulani Maseko, the then Chairperson of the MultiStakeholder Forum(MSF) was assassinated on the 21st January 2023 allegedly, by King Mswati’s mercenaries merely for demanding democratic reforms.
Political parties are banned in eSwatini and human rights defenders are arrested, tortured and killed for demanding democracy.
