NNLC PRESIDENT SIBONGILE MAZIBUKO:Why did the Ministry of Health accept the R1.8million ‘expired’ medical supplies from Swazi Pharm Director Kareem Ashraf?

Thursday, 25th January, 2024

MBABANE:Sibongile Mazibuko, the President of the Ngwane National Liberatory Congress(NNLC) has questioned Government’s decision to accept the R1.8 million ‘expired’ medical supplies from SwaziPharm Director Kareem Ashraff.

The businessman who made the donation this week, stands accused of using his various companies to loot over R600million from the Ministry of Health, resulting to the health crisis amid shortage of drugs in public hospitals.Speaking to this Swaziland News on Wednesday evening, the NNLC President said, the fact that the Ministry of Health accepted the donation without checking the expiry date, “is a clear indication that Tinkhundla regime doesn't value the lives”of emaSwati.

"Let's not undermine the danger and risk  to emaSwati of continuing with Tinkhundla system of Government that doesn't value life, how can a whole Ministry accept a “donation” without checking it's expiry date. This “donation was just a scam to portray Ashraf as a philanthropist and a saviour in order to cover up his shenanigans.

We shall continue to demand an investigation on his involvement in the  alleged corruption,”said the NNLC President.

The R1.8 million medical supplies donation by SwaziPharm Director Kareem Ashraff will allegedly expire in April 2024 and as a result, it has been removed from the Central Medical Stores(CMS), hundreds of emaSwati are dying in public hospitals amid shortage of medication.
