Buhleni police fails to investigate disappearance of Thandeka Mtsetfwa who left behind twins, advices relatives to post her on Facebook.

BUHLENI: “Post her on Facebook, we are too busy to investigate this case”.

These were the sentiments of Buhleni Police Officers after a missing person case was opened by relatives of Thandeka Mtsetfwa this week.

Mtsetfwa, an alleged mother of twins allegedly disappeared leaving behind the twins, her mother Zanele Vilakati, a grandmother to the twins told this Swaziland News that, police failed to assist her.

“I am the mother of Thandeka Mtsetfwa and I approached the police after my daughter disappeared leaving behind the twins aged twenty-two(22) months. After approaching the police Domestic Violence and Child Protection Unit, I was advised by the police to post her on Facebook”, she said.

A questionnaire was sent to Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, however, she had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

Reached for comments by this Swaziland News on Thursday evening, Sibongile Mazibuko, the President of the Ngwane National Liberatory Congress(NNLC) said, the police are not supposed to advice citizens seeking services to post on Facebook but instead, they must investigate.

“Posting on Facebook should be an individual choice obviously, in most instances, it’s influenced by frustration. Police must investigate not to refer citizens seeking services to Facebook”, said the NNLC President.
