MBABANE:The Eswatini Electricity Company(EEC) has announced an increase of 8.02%, customers are highly expected to pay one hundred Rands(R100,00) for around forty(40) electricity units.
Eswatini has about 70% of the population living below the poverty line,emaSwati are facing escalating costs of basic commodities amid low salaries,high inflation and scarcity of jobs.
The company announced the increase through a public notice released this week.
