MBABANE: This past weekend brought thrilling action to the world of grassroots football, with four(4) exciting INSTACASH Hhohho FA Cup tournaments played successfully at Ntfonjeni, Timphisini, Mdzimba, and Lobamba, the tournaments are sponsored by INSTACASH and eBet.
On Saturday August 24, the Ntfonjeni tournament saw defending champions Sun City Football Club emerging triumphant after overcoming Zibonele F.C with a resounding score of 4-1.
This victory marked Sun City's impressive performance throughout the tournament, demonstrating their tactical prowess and offensive capabilities.
Equally compelling was the clash in the Mdzimba tournament, where Sibuyeni FC successfully defended their title against Ntsintsa, securing a solid 2-0 win.
Sibuyeni\'s disciplined defence and strategic gameplay emphasised their dominance in the Mdzimba league.Meanwhile, Timphisini tournament was held on Sunday August 25, with a nail-biting finale between reigning champions Soccer Rose and their rivals Kudvwaleni United.
Soccer Rose showed remarkable resilience, edging out Kudvwaleni in a dramatic penalty shootout that ended 6-5 following a gritty level score at the end of regulation.
“Such thrilling encounters underscore the essence of soccer, where every moment counts and skill, combined with nerves of steel, often determines the outcome,” exclaimed Donald Nkonyane, Hhohho FA Vice Chairman.
Meanwhile, in a fierce battle witnessed in the Lobamba tournament, Luveve Killers claimed the championship title from defending champions, Lusito Lions, with a decisive 4-2 victory after penalties.
This match showcased exceptional teamwork and individual brilliance, with Luveve Killers demonstrating their ability to adapt and perform under pressure. Their victory not only served as a testament to their hard work but also sent a clear message to their competitors within the league regarding their aspirations for future titles.
The champions pocketed themselves R2,500 in prize money, brand new soccer kits each worth R5,000, a trophy, and gold medals; while first runners up got R2,500 and silver medals. The teams that got eliminated at semifinal level each got R1,000, while players of tournaments and top goal scorers got E250 each.
