MBABANE:Sergeant Dumsile Khumalo, the Secretary General of the Royal Eswatini Police Staff Association(REPOSA) has warned Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo to stay away from matters involving the police as the law enforcement agency has its own Spokesperson.
This comes after Nxumalo wrote on his online platform, accusing junior police officers who are merely demanding a salary increment, of secretly working with Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini in an alleged plot to overthrow the Tinkhundla Government.
“I would like to warn Alpheous to stay away from issues involving the police, we have our own Spokesperson as the police and the Staff Association has its own Spokesperson. Nangabe lokuphelelwa yi-contract lokumsondzelelako kumenta akhulume tintfo letingamfaki kutaba yinkinga. We want our money and we will not rest until we receive it”, said the REPOSA Secretary General.
The Government Spokesperson was reacting to an article published by the editor earlier on Saturday, Nxumalo then called for the dismissal of Sergeant Khumalo and other police officers who, he said, “are secretly working with Zwemart, the Swaziland News editor”.
But Khumalo warned the Government Spokesperson that, the salary increment-Phase two(2) remains a very sensitive issue within the Police Service and he must stay away from it unless he wants to escalate it with his reckless and contradictory comments.
On another note, editor Zweli Martin Dlamini told the Government Spokesperson that, one day he might find himself accusing even the King of secretly speaking to Zwemart.
“I am sure if the Tinkhundla could decide not to renew his extended contract, he might start accusing the King of speaking to Zwemart because whenever he fails to defend Government, he links people to Zwemart,” said the editor.
Government is at loggerheads with junior police officers amid refusal to award a salary increment, the Spokesperson has been mandated to divide the junior police officers by calling for the dismissal of their union-REPOSA Executive members.
Nxumalo further called for the dismissal of all junior police officers who are demanding a salary increment under Phase Two(2).
