I am writing as an anonymous student currently enrolled in the Heavy Plant Mechanic course at the BSA Training Centre in Manzini.
I choose to remain anonymous out of concern for my safety and to avoid any backlash from the institution.
I want to make it clear that we are not trying to be troublesome; rather, we are expressing our honest concerns about the quality of training and false promises made by BSA.
The institution advertises itself as a professional vocational centre equipped with the necessary tools and machinery for practical learning. Unfortunately, this is not the case.
There is no proper heavy plant equipment or workshop available for students to gain practical experience. Instead, we are sent to nearby garages that only handle light vehicles, which is not relevant to our course.
The training environment is disorganized, and lessons are often skipped or inconsistent. Recently, no learning activities have been conducted except for one class per week on Tuesdays, which covers OBD(On-Board Diagnostics).
Most of the time, students are told to attend gym sessions for upcoming sports events instead of receiving proper training.
It is painful to note that our course is scheduled to finish in September, yet we have not received the training promised.
Many students, including myself, have paid fees expecting quality education but have received little to no practical training. Complaints raised by students are often ignored or dismissed, with no effort from the institution to address these issues.
I urge the relevant authorities to investigate BSA Training Centre, verify its claims, and take appropriate action to prevent other students from being misled. Proper vocational training is vital for our future, and no student should be denied the opportunity to learn and grow due to the institution’s negligence.
