King Mswati visits R3.3billion Maputo utility plant as eSwatini businesspeople hope for launching of local power generation projects to improve ease of doing business.

MBABANE:King Mswati visited the Electricidade de Moçambique(EDM) this weekend and was taken through the Maputo R3.3billion utility plant amid scarcity of electricity within the tiny Kingdom that resulted to load-shedding.

The King is in Mozambique on a State visit, he was welcomed by President Daniel Chapo and the two(2) countries signed agreements to cooperate in the establishment and development of fuel and other energy projects.

Reached for comments by this Swaziland News on Sunday, Johannes Manikela, the Business Federation of Eswatini(BFE) Head of Retail and Trade said, as businesspeople, they hope for the launching of local power generating projects to improve the ease of doing business.

“Scarcity of energy supply or high costs of electricity undermine operations of businesses and/or the ease of doing business. So we hope the King will secure energy deals that will assist the country in launching local energy projects”, he said.
