Futhie ‘MaMkhize’ Ngcamphalala, the Lubombo Regional Member of Parliament(MP) warned that, emaSwati will soon struggle to afford water as this basic commodity is fast becoming expensive.
The MP was speaking in Parliament when opposing an increase in water tariffs and even though the increase was eventually approved at least, she made her point.
But MP Ngcamphalala was diplomatic as she did not specify or elaborate why water is expensive in this country and let me share my views on the subject matter.
In this country, about 70% of the population lives below the poverty line and as a result, can’t afford the expensive water and electricity.
This is not an exaggeration or theory but facts that we as the media, Parliament and other State institutions must scrutinize and come-up with a solution otherwise, poor emaSwati will die as they struggle to access water just to drink and continue breathing.
The truth is; the Eswatini Water Services Corporation(EWSC) is led by an alleged corporate thief with proximity to royalty thus messing-up the State owned company with impunity.
Managing Director Jabulile Mashwama is part of a huge political connected corporate syndicate of alleged corrupt powerful women with one common agenda, to steal State resources.
The King’s mother-in-law pretended to be elevating or promoting some Managers within the State owned company and increased their salaries yet the intention was, in my view, to allocate more money to herself.
As a result, she is currently earning over two hundred thousand Rands(R200,000.00) as a monthly salary including allowances and poor citizens are funding her extravagant lifestyle, paying for the expensive water.
That Jabulile Mashwama ‘sold’ her daughter Inkhosikati Siphelele LaMashwama to King Mswati as an ambition to consolidate power does not give her the ‘license’ to steal from the poor, this country belongs to emaSwati and too big to be reduced to King Mswati’s sexual pleasures or “kwendziselana bafati”.
The King’s mother-in-law is literally suffocating the poor and vulnerable citizens so that, she can live in luxury, this is cruelty.
A majority of the citizens in this country can’t afford a decent meal and some, drink water before going to bed just to sustain the breath in their bodies.
Therefore, if Managing Director Jabulile Mashwama is increasing water she is literally suffocating emaSwati to death and, we can’t allow this.
Water must be affordable in this country or free because as a basic commodity or natural resource, it must be accessed even by the poor and vulnerable.

Lubombo MP Futhie ‘MaMkhize’ Ngcamphalala.
