MBABANE:Bheki Mamba, the President of the Trade Union Congress of Swaziland(TUCOSWA) says the federation has a long standing position, supporting the conversion of the Eswatini National Provident Fund(ENPF) into a National Pension Fund.
Speaking to this Swaziland News during an exclusive interview this week, the TUCOSWA President said, the conversion will improve the welfare of workers and as a federation, they support projects that seeks to improve the welfare of workers both in the public and, the private sector.
“There’s a misleading narrative suggesting that, the conversion of the ENPF into a National Pension Fund will collapse the Public Service Pension Fund, that is not true, the conversion will actually complement the PSPF. As we speak, we have workers who are receiving pensions from their companies as well as the Provident Fund. We have workers at Simunye sugar company who have a pension but, they are also members of the ENPF and benefiting from the Provident Fund, this means they have two(2) pensions. So the narrative suggesting that, it’s against the law to have two(2) pensions is misleading,” said the TUCOSWA President.
