MBABANE: Welcome Mdluli, the President of the Swaziland Democratic Nurses Union(SWADNU) said in the midst of the looming thrid wave, the continuous delay in the procurement of the COVID-19 vaccines would place health workers in serious danger as they were supposed to receive the second jab.

Speaking to this Swaziland News on Monday, the Nurses President said the health workers who were vaccinated by the AstraZeneca vaccine were supposed to receive a second jab in ten(10) weeks adding that they might be at high risk as the delay continues. He said even though the country\'s vaccination should be within the ten(10) weeks, it would be better if Government could  procure vaccines at least within twelve(12) weeks.

“As we know that we have health workers who were vaccinated, we might soon have a serious problem should the vaccines be delayed beyond the 12 weeks” ,he said.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Lizzie Nkosi recently announced in a press statement said there would be some delays in the procurement or arrival of the COVID-19 vaccines due to alleged delays from the COVAX facility.
