MBABANE: Lucky Lukhele, the Spokesperson of the Swaziland Solidarity Network(SSN) said Army Commander Jeffery Shabalala revealed the State secret by mentioning that the Southern African Development Community(SADC) was on their side.
The Army Commander was exposed through an investigation conducted by this Swaziland News where it was further alleged that he vowed to defeat pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs).
Speaking to this Swaziland News, the SSN Spokesperson said it was known that SADC was supporting the King and the eSwatini Government but mentioned that the Army Commander made a mistake to reveal such.
“It is known that SADC was supporting the King and his regime but the Army Commander made a mistake by revealing this. We hope that now that the Troika Chairmanship has been taken over by South Africa, things will change”,he said.
Lukhele further said as SSN, they welcomed the support by the Economic Freedom Fighters(EFF), a political organization that intends to move a motion in the Parliament of South Africa in support of the calls for democratic reforms in eSwatini.
Sibongile Mazibuko, the President of the Ngwane National Liberatory Congress(NNLC) said it was true that SADC was supporting the King and eSwatini Government as they have developed hostility towards them even before the political unrest.
On another note, SADC issued a statement in the midst of the political chaos about two months ago calling for calm, the regional organization was blamed for trying to downplay the situation by claiming that only one person was killed at the time.
