MBABANE: Mzwandile Dlamini, the Secretary General of the Eswatini Correctional Services Staff Association(ECOSSA) has resigned as an officer of His Majesty’s Correctional Services.
Dlamini confirmed his resignation during an interview with this Swaziland News on Thursday, he said this was triggered by the ongoing shooting and killing of civilians who are demanding democratic reforms.
“I don’t want blood of innocent citizens on my hands, being part of an organization that is responsible for the killing of innocent civilians also taints my image. This means I cannot be clean while working for an organization with dirty hands, I no longer want to be part of this”, he said.
Questions were sent to Phindile Dlamini, the Commissioner General of His Majesty’s Correctional Services, however, he had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
The Correctional Services Union's resigned Secretary General , a brother to former vibrant Nkwene Member of Parliament(MP) Sikhumbuzo Dlamini said he will now dedicate more time fighting for democracy on behalf of the people. His resignation comes at a time when the organization was victimizing him for being critical on issues touching on the welfare of officers including the demand for better salaries.
