Eswatini Government announces another fuel price increase, no salary increment for civil servants.

Wednesday, 1st December, 2021

MBABANE: Dorcas Dlamini, the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy has announced another fuel price increase.

Reached for comments, Sikelela Dlamini, the Secretary General of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) said the increase in fuel prices would affect workers and subsequently push more Swazis into poverty.

“Workers have children who are transported to school everyday and this means more money will go to transport instead of other basic necessities. Even the public transport owners might increase bus fares and you cannot blame them because they have been lenient for a long time”, he said.

In a public statement, Dorcas Dlamini, the PS in the Natural Resources Ministry said the increase was with effect from Thursday, 02 December 2021, Unleaded Petrol would increase by 90c per litre,  from E 16.25 to  E17.15  while diesel 50ppm would increase from E 16.20 to E 17.00 per litre and illumination Paraffin would increase by 80c per litre.

Meanwhile, government remains reluctant to increase salaries for civil servants.
