MBABANE: Poet Mzwakhe Mbuli sent a special recorded poem to Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini on Tuesday saying he was motivated by his article where he was criticizing King Mswati for allegedly committing crimes against humanity.
The article titled “So Prince Simelane is trying to protect Mswati, implicate Tsintsibala, Jeffery on crimes against humanity?” was published on Tuesday where the editor was criticizing Mswati for allegedly unleashing the army and the police to kill civilians.
The editor came hard on Housing Minister Prince Simelane who tried to mislead the Nation by defending Mswati while shifting the blame to heads of the armed forces.
“A prisoner in waiting, a murderer, his hands are tainted, blood of the innocent. The King has never publicly apologized, distanced himself or condemned the massacre of the innocent people. One death is death too many, more than hundred people have been killed”, Mbuli stated in a poetic voice.
The poet confirmed in a message he sent to the editor that this poem was inspired by his article.
“I was motivated by your article”, said the poet.
Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini said he was honoured to learn that his article touched high profile people like Mzwakhe Mbuli.
“Writing is a very unique skill that can change the world and liberate even the oppressed. I am humbled that highly regarded people like Mzwakhe Mbuli were inspired by my article. Mbuli loves Swazis and by composing this poem, he is amplifying the voices calling for democratic reforms”, said the editor.
