MHLUME:Sifiso Nyembe,the Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation(RESC)Corporate Affairs Manager has confirmed that operations were suspended within the company amid a strike action by sugarcane cutters.
It has been disclosed that the strike action has affected production,employees at Mhlume and Simunye Sugar Mill were told to temporarily stay at home on Wednesday until further notice.
“It’s true that we decided to suspend operations today(Wednesday) pending engagements with the sugarcane cutters,the situation does not allow us to operate,” said the Corporate Affairs Manager when speaking to Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini.
Eswatini is in the midst of a political crisis,on Tuesday and Wednesday, various companies halted operations as the second wave of the political unrest intensifies.
