PRIME MINISTER:US Peace Corps volunteers changing lives in communities.

MBABANE: Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini says eSwatini’s relationship with the United States(US) Peace Corps has seen the volunteers working with various communities in the rural areas, changing lives.

Speaking through Principal Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office Bertram Stewart during the swearing-in of eleven(11)volunteers at US Embassy, Ezulwini on Tuesday, the PM said since former US President JF Kennedy’s endorsement of the Peace Corp,the country has witnessed the program growing in leaps and bounds across all corners of the globe.

“It is important to note that when President Kennedy signed the piece of legislation launching the program, this was during a very turbulent time in the United States.Today,we stand as witnesses of a program that has changed lives and has contributed immensely to global peace,”’said the PM as quoted by Government online platforms.

On another note, United States(US) Ambassador to eSwatini Her Excellency Jeanne Maloney said the partnership between the Peace Corps and Eswatini was worth celebrating.

“We celebrate the 1859 Volunteers and countless emaSwati men and women who have worked shoulder to shoulder across decades.With their host communities, who are equal partners in this dynamic relationship, Volunteers in Eswatini do a remarkable job on the ground,”’said the Ambassador.
