Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) Thulie Dladla says Gender Based Violence(GBV) contributes to HIV new infections.

MBABANE: Thulisile Dladla,the Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) has emphasized the urgent need to address the scourge of Gender Based Violence(GBV) which, she said,drives the Human ImmunodeficiencyVirus(HIV) new infections.

Speaking during the World AIDS Day Commemoration when representing the Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini at Gilgal on Friday, the DPM said, emaSwati discouraged GBV during Sibaya.

The Nation spoke during the recent Sibaya of the need to tackle GBV, which continues to rear its ugly head in society. As a country, we need to take a stand against GBV.I am pleased that the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence campaign under the theme “Invest to Prevent Violence Against Women and Girls” has already been launched.This campaign aims at raising awareness about GBV prevention and response by Government and non-state actors and further calls for renewed commitment towards elimination of violence in all settings,” said the Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) as quoted by Government online platforms.

The Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) recently pledged to put measures in place to fight Gender Based Violence(GBV).
