Disappearance of women and children in the midst of the COVID-19 lockdown, a great concern.

Tuesday, 12th January, 2021

We have noted the continued disappearing of children and women, which is a great concern, the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated and brought the systemic and deeply entrenched economic and societal inequalities that are among the root causes of human trafficking.

It should be noted that during a crisis like Covid-19 there are factors that increase the vulnerability of some groups of people to potential traffickers such as loss of employment and reduction of working hours, these situations compromise people\'s  needs and that of their families.

We urge enforcement officers to continue paying attention to such syndicate crimes even during this time, in communities, women and children are disappearing without any trace, who knows this could be human trafficking.

It is very important for parents to monitor their children and make sure they are playing in safe places, the kids must be taught to avoid strangers who might lure them with material things.

Since the country has been hit hard by poverty and the Covid-19 pandemic,  the trafficking Criminals may take advantage of the difficult situation we are in. Women and Children are not for sale,  let\'s protect them and be our sisters keeper, say no to human trafficking.
